Welcome to the Apps4Brands blog! Before we get started here’s a little background info on who we are and what we do:
Who: 5 senior Strategic Communication majors at the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
What: For our senior capstone project we have been placed in this rockin’ group and assigned to a stellar client called Apps4Brands. It is our job to establish Apps4Brands as the online destination for info about useful social media applications and -most importantly- how to integrate them into your Advertising and Brand Marketing plans. That’s right industry folk, we’re here as a resource for you!
Why: Social networking is dominating the internet, plain and simple. Gone are the days where you had an email account and maybe a MySpace… and if you think you’re ahead of the curve with a Twitter, you’ve got another thing coming. Not only are there a million and one different social networks to join, but there are a million and two applications and tools meant to help you organize that content and use it more effectively. Now, with a million and two applications out there how do you know which ones are the most efficient? Or which are optimal to use as a marketer or advertiser and which are better for social purposes? Whether a new app is worth switching to, or if the one you have now is better for your needs? Heck, how do you even learn how to use ‘em? That’s where we come in.
How: Apps4Brands is currently working with 3 clients: CloveApp, Involver and Magnify. They are 3 great applications for social media that are in very different levels of development and serve very different purposes. They will not only be the focus of our work but also the tools we use to produce our campaign. What better way to to prove an application will be effective than using the app itself to spread the word? We will be working with all 3 of the applications, as well as their competitors, throughout the course of our project and blogging about our experiences with them. What we like, what we don’t, useful tips, troubleshooting, things to avoid etc… all from the perspective of 5 future industry professionals looking for potential to incorporate them into campaigns. We will also provide inside access to interviews with the app developers, testimonials from notable industry pros and insight into what’s making news in social media today.
